School Band

Children from Years 4-6 who are learning an instrument will have an opportunity to be part of our School Band. The School Band practices weekly and performs at our school masses and special events.

Choir

Children in Years 5-6 are given the opportunity to join our School Choir. Our School Choir rehearses weekly from Term 2 and performs at the Catholic Schools Music Festival at the end of Term 3. The choir also performs at a local nursing home as part of our Social Justice Program.

Swimming Program

Our Lady of Hope offers a one week swimming program to all of our students. Children are placed in small groups with a qualified swimming instructor based on their swimming ability and confidence and the program is tailored to suit their needs. With beginning swimmers the program aims to develop basic confidence, survival skills, swimming technique and safety awareness around water. Advanced swimmers have the opportunity to further develop their swimming skills. There is no additional cost to parents for the swimming program as it is included as part of the School fees.

Sports Carnivals

The children are given an opportunity to be involved in a number of one day sporting carnivals throughout the year. The focus of these carnivals is participation, fun and teamwork.

Some of the sports offered through the sporting carnivals are:

  • Cricket
  • Tennis
  • T-Ball
  • Swimming
  • Athletics
  • Soccer
  • Football
  • Touch
  • Netball
  • European Handball

After School Sports

Our Lady of Hope also offers children an opportunity to participate in after school sporting teams. The number of teams formed is dependent on demand. In 2020, the main after school sports teams included indoor soccer & netball. Cricket and basketball have also been offered in the past. Nomination forms for these teams are sent home each semester.

STEM and Scientists in Schools Programs

We offer children an opportunity to be involved in after school Science and STEM programs. The programs in 2018 focussed on computer programming and coding.

We also have a scientist who comes into the school to work with our Science teacher and a group of interested students on science based experiments as part of the Scientists in Schools program.

Students who are interested in Science are also invited to be involved in our afterschool Science Club.

School Camps

As part of our learning program, we offer all of our Year 5-6 students an opportunity to be involved in a 2 night camp experience. The camp experience focuses on helping children to develop friendships, independence and provides children with new and fun life experiences.

Our Year 4 students are offered a one night camp or sleep over experience.

Excursions

Excursions are part of our yearly curriculum. All classes will participate in excursions throughout the year. The cost of these excursions is covered through the school fees.
